As one would expect, H. Moser & Cie’s sports watch — Pioneer — is the epitome of grace and elegance. It transports a sense of refinement and understated charm to the wrist with its fluid form, where the round 42.8mm case blends effortlessly with the lugs. Further, the alternating polished and brushed finishes attribute a striking visual appeal, which anyway is aplenty in this reference (courtesy of the dial). All these urbane elements, together with the signature ribbed casebands, elevate aesthetics, while the screw-down crown reinforces functionality by rendering the case 120 metres water resistant.
This Pioneer Tourbillon reference 3804-1205, released in 2021, comes with an eye-catching dial called the Mega Cool. We have to admit this blue Lagoon fumé dial competes as one of the strongest components in this timepiece, where each detail is tailor-made to perfection, from the case to the high-precision tourbillon. Like any Moser watch, the dial is a picture of minimalism, letting just the distinctive colour shine with aplomb. An excellent example of Moser’s attention to detail is the signature text, depicted discreetly in transparent lacquer, as if not to steer attention away from the details that matter. The tourbillon aperture at six is the only characterful feature on the dial. It’s a 60-minute flying tourbillon designed flexibly to allow its extraction directly for service.
